Facebook Comes Up with Smart Friend Lists Feature

It was rumored earlier that Facebook had silently set off a remarkable new feature called the smart friend lists. This feature uses a special algorithm to create manageable lists of friends, coworkers, acquaintances and people live around you. This smart friend lists feature is now publicly announced by Facebook who thoroughly provide the details of the feature.

Facebook has already been offering a ‘Friend Lists’ feature to their users for years. But majority of the people never find anything rewarding in compiling their friend lists. However, this time Facebook is pretty much sure that the new feature will somehow change the thinking of some users, if not all.

Facebook explains the working of this feature in a very comprehensive way. According to them, with the help of this feature, Facebook will create a handful of lists automatically, i.e. one for friends living near you, one for coworkers and one for people you attended school/college with. It seems a good way to start with. Facebook further describes that you can create your own new lists as well and for those list Facebook will suggest you a list of people that it thinks may belong to the same list.

Furthermore, there will be another list that highlights your best buddies. This list is marked with a star. For this list, Facebook will not suggest anyone because this particular list belongs to user and they will choose on their own whom to make a part of this list. Another plus attributed to this list is: whenever a member of this list makes a post or upload a photo, you will see that change in your News Feed and also receive a notification for that. Even a small change make by them will be notified to you.

‘Acquaintances’ is another new list in the Smart Friend Lists. It also exhibits some special features, for instance, you will receive only important status changes in your News Feed such as new jobs, marriages etc, from the people added in this list and their day to day posts will be neglected.
