Firefox 25 to Release on October 22, 2013

Internet has become the basic necessity of life. Loads of new technologies are introduced on regular basis which involve a lot of hard work from developers. Browsers are an inevitable part of Internet world which is used to view hundred of thousands of websites on the World Wide Web (www) in the Internet. Several big names are there that offer their web browsers with distinctive features including Internet Explorer (IE) from Microsoft, Firefox from Mozilla, Chrome from Google and Safari from Apple, Opera etc. The purpose of all this discussion is to make your realize the importance of web and web browsers.

Mozilla has disclosed the flow chart of their major releases, according to which 2012 will see the release of 8 versions while 19 versions of Firefox will be released in next 2 years.

As a part of forthcoming releases, Kev Needham, the distribution channel manager at Mozilla provided us with a comprehensive roadmap of their new product. According to him, Mozilla has scheduled this roadmap on the assumption that the new Firefox version will follow 6-week release cycle. This roadmap may also help those users who requite to install Firefox in several machines.

This year will be ended for Firefox with its 9th version due on December 20, 2011. In the next coming year, Mozilla is hoping to release 9 new versions of Firefox and end 2012 with Firefox 17 in the market. The 2013 will begin for Mozilla with Firefox 18 launch and end with Firefox 25 which is assumed to release on October 22, 2013. Such a 6-week release cycle is also implemented by Google, but not followed as strictly as by other developers.

From business users’ perspective, this list may not be as appreciable as for other domestic users because it is extremely difficult to keep pace with this quick release cycle. It is better for Mozilla to make a special plan based on annual release of stable Firefox version for enterprises class.

  1. Mozilla distribution channel manager Kev Needham is providing a new product roadmap for Firefox in anticipation of the upcoming releases. The schedule is based on the assumption that a new Firefox version will be released every 6 weeks and may serve as a planner especially for those who need to deploy Firefox in greater numbers than just one or two machines.
