Google+ Opens up to the World, Adds Hangout Video Chats for Android Phones

Google has finally opened up its Google+ to the whole world. Google has added a good numbers of features and improvements in its new Google+. Above all, the Google+ app for Android has also updated as well with many new features such as Hangout video chats on the move, group messages with photos and much more.

The source of these reports is Google Mobile Blog which is officially updated by Google Mobile team. The news came late on September 21and the released post gives us a general view of the improvements and additions made in the Google+.

According to Punit Soni of Google+ Mobile team, Google has introduced a plethora of new features to Google+ since its launch and we have made a history today by opening signups to whole world. Just log on to plus.google.com and signup for free. No invite required.

From Google Mobile Blog:

We started the Google+ project to help make online sharing more like real-world sharing. Of course, in life we increasingly share on the go, so over the past ~90 days we’ve developed Google+ apps for Android, iOS and the mobile web.

During this time we’ve made lots of improvements to the project, and in fact, the team just announced its 100th new feature overall (open signups). But our work is far from done, and today we’re bringing seven additional Google+ features to your mobile device.

Although all the features are worth mentioning, but the most notable is Hangouts – an impressive video chat feature. All those with Android-powered smartphones running version 2.3 or later and front cameras can use this feature. Furthermore, the Hangouts feature on Google+ desktop is now merged with the Google Docs and SetchUp – also enables users to share screens with each other. You must agree with me that the Hangouts is perhaps the best feature added in Google+ and its availability for mobile devices make it even more convincing.

Google has brought something good for the users of US and India who can post, receive and send group messages through text. Google said that they will add support for other countries in near future.

Google along with some big features add little tweaks as well to make Google+ user friendly such as one can edit profile photos, customize notifications and also put Google+ app into the SD card.

Google has also renamed the previously +Huddles (Google+ messaging system) to Messenger and enables its users to upload pictures to group or circle.

Certainly, Google has done a great job by bringing all those exciting features to Google+. But the job is not done yet as you need to have users to make use of these features and this is perhaps one of the biggest concerns of Google at this time.

Google+ has a competition with a social networking giant Facebook and it is extremely tough to move people from that giant to Google+. Google+ is introduced to public when Facebook has already added so many features like video chat, updates to Messenger, Subscriptions, etc. Let us see which strategy Google will adopt to raise the traffic of Google+.
