Line2 Finally Launches for iPad

Line2 may not be a new term for many of you, but there may be people who don’t have any clear idea about it. I think it is important to give a brief account of Line2 before moving onto main point.

Line2 is the first and only tri-mode calling app for smartphones, meaning that it can use Wi-Fi, cellular data (3G or 4G), or even cellular voice connections to make and receive calls, all with the same number. What does this mean to you? It means your calls will always get through, all using one app and one number. Reliable mobile communication, simplified.

It is an application that works similar to Google Voice, but the emphasis is to support the businesses and presumers. Line2 is developed by toktumi, Inc. and took almost three months to make Apple approve their application.

Presently, Line2 has over 50,000 paying customers along with 40 employees. The Line2 offers a plan that start at $9.95/month. Prior to the launch of Line2 for iPad, it is working on both iPhone and Android. The iPad app is as good as iPhone version performance wise. The iPad version is made by getting input from Apple.

What you need to do is to sign up for an account on Line2 website. While signing up with Line2, you will be allotted a new phone number. If you are not interested in new phone number, you have the option to port your current number. Once the setup process is completed, you will now able to make calls, send text messages and even browse message history for each contact form your iPad. The option is available to you either route or place your call over VoIP or to your regular phone line.

Peter Sisson, the founder of Line2 states:

the company decided to make the app after it found that the iPad was its top-converting platform, despite the fact that it only offered the 2x scaled view of its iPhone app (in other words, it looked pretty bad, but people were still using it). So they took the hint and built an HD version from the ground up to take advantage of the iPad’s larger screen real estate.
