Mozilla Releases Firefox 7 with Improved Memory Usage

Mozilla sticking to its six weeks release cycles announces the Firefox 7. When it comes to browsers war, Firefox appears to enjoy a decent market share. Describing its new release, Mozilla said that the new version will offer a faster browsing experience compared to previous versions. This final version of Firefox 7 was designed and developed with major emphasis given to performance side.

Over the years, the browser has been facing performance problems such as loading time, tab opening, and HTML content. Slow booting was the major problem compared to other browsers with all previous versions of Firefox. However, this new Final release will offer an improved startup time, tab opening and HTML 5 content.

Mozilla’s developer work really hard to release something worth appreciating. The developers improved the memory management system. The memory usage has been reduced by 50% in this final release of Mozilla Firefox 7 that not only improves the performance of the browser but also lessens the risks of crash browser. The high performance of Firefox is more than welcomed by ‘heavy internet’ users who require keeping several tabs open during long browsing sessions. A blog post on Mozilla’s blog describes it as:

Heavy Internet users will enjoy enhanced performance when lots of tabs are open and during long Web browsing sessions that last hours or even days.

The usability of Firefox 7 is not limited to general users as it also employs several features for developers as well. For instance, it incorporates a new version of Canvas that improves the performance of HTML 5 content. The new version also support the W3C navigation timing spec API that enables developers to measure performance of their sites in terms of page load time, navigation against bandwidth speed, traffic and certain other aspects.

A new version of hardware-accelerated Canvas speeds up HTML5 animations and games in Firefox. This allows developers to build more compelling and interactive Web experiences like Angry Birds or Runfield.

Furthermore, the Firefox 7 is released with a special opt-in Telemetry tool to offer unspecified browser performance data in a private or secure way for users.
