Skype for iPhone and iPad Updated: Adds Image Stabilization and Bluetooth Headset Support

We reported last week that Skype iOS app has some privacy vulnerability issues. Perhaps, in context with the vulnerability issue Skype has updated its iOS app for both iPhone and iPad. The updated version comes with certain new features and additions.

The updated version, 3.5.84 has now much demanded support for Bluetooth headsets and headphones which previous versions lacked. This is something that should be integrated into the app from the very first day, but it’s never too late. This feature has now made this app a must-have option for all iDevice’s users.

Another noticeable feature is the addition of the anti-shake technology that helps users to experience smooth and stable video streams during a call.

Let us now have a look at some of the important features of this updated version:

What’s New in version 3.5.84

  • Bluetooth support for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 4th Generation, and iPad 2
  • Incoming emoticons; outgoing emoticons displayed when entered in text form
  • Enhanced video through image stabilization
  • New easy-to-use interface
  • Advertising will be shown to users that do not have Skype Credit, a calling subscription or premium subscription
  • Bugfix for security vulnerability

The only drawback in this updated version is the inclusion of advertisements. All those users who don’t have Skype subscription or those who have Skype credit attached to their account all the time are subjected to visual ads within the app. Unsurprisingly, this addition must bug many of the users of this app, particularly those who have not purchased Skype subscription.

The new features are no doubt welcomed by the user base open heartedly with an exception of addition of ads. Apart from ads, the Skype iOS app gives an overall good video calling experience while on-the-go.

We have included a video as well so as to give you a better idea of how the newly add anti-shake technology will improve your calling experience
