Sony’s S1 Android Tablet launching as Tablet S in September

Once a leading electronic equipment manufacturer – Sony is set to release its maiden S1 range of Android tablets in September. These would be powered on Android Gingerbread 2.3.3 platform and will offer supreme features to the users apart from gaming support options. The sources close to Sony have confirmed that their new range of tablets will be glazed with all latest features such as Video calling through dual camera enablement, state of the art sleek design and colorful options to choose from as required. Sony would be pitching its tablets in line with the market pricing for staying competitive in the mainstream.

The tablets will be enabled on Snapdragon 1.2 Ghz processor and would stand to compete with Samsung tabs too apart from iPad. Sony’s late entry to the market segment and lack of thought leadership has enabled Apple and Samsung in capturing the market potential early. It will be tough for it to register a mark in mind of the consumer right at the onset.

Also one can anticipate freebies from Sony, such as free case or 3G connection offers, in order to boost the initial sales thresholds. The technology and consumer expectations are growing enormously in the tablet market space and it will be interesting to note as to who emerges as the strong tablet market contender in the long run.
