Twitter Loses Two Early Investors

We recently reported that Chief Scientist, Summize Co-Founder, Adbur Chowdhury has quit twitter. Now two investors, Fred Wilson and Bijan Sabet have also left the company’s board of directors. These are the earliest investors of twitter. It is yet to be announced what actually is the reason behind this change. A source which is close to the matter revealed that twitter has no plans of appointing new directors to replace Wilson and Sabet.

Previously, in October, Evan Williams quit twitter and Dick Costolo replaced him as chief executive. In the start of 2011, Costolo brought back Jack Dorsey who is an earlier co-founder of twitter.

Twitter has a user base of 100 million and counting. Lately, twitter has been more focused on revenue generating advertising business. According to Costolo, the company is expanding its options to serve ads. He was briefing reporters analysts at twitter’s headquarter last week.

Twitter raisaed a whooping $400 million earlier this year and gave credit to Wilson and Sabet for playing a very important rule in the success.

“Both saw what Twitter could become before most anyone else,” said Twitter spokesman Sean Garrett in an emailed statement. “We look forward to their continued input as both investors in the company and passionate users of the product.”
