Windows 8 Can Make and Receive Calls

Windows 8 is not new in the market and still many of its features are hidden from the users, though many are exploring it to find the potential strength of Windows 8. Recently, it is discovered that Windows 8 can make and receive calls.

This amazing news has brought to us by a well known developer for Windows and Windows Phone 7, Long Zheng. He provided us with three different pictures displaying distinctive parts of the Windows 8 User Interface suggesting that it will support phone calling.

I love it when puzzle pieces seems to just fall into place. If the three pieces I found yesterday were any indication then it looks as if some Windows 8 slates will actually have the capability to make and receive phone calls through the cellular network. Cue the giant Windows Phone jokes.

The first picture given below is one taken from 2011 Microsoft’s BUILD conference where the Windows 8 was exhibited. It is obvious in the picture that a yellow encircled tile clearly read Missed calls.

In the second picture, a profile of a person is shown with some details. If you examine closely, you will find an option ‘send email, text and chat, and call mobile’ under ‘Message and Call’ heading.

You may not find the third and last picture relevant to Windows 8, but this picture is given by Long Zheng in perspective of his fellow developer Rafael Riviera’s post in which he describes that the tablet used to display Windows 8 at BUILD was in fact not Samsung Series 7. Rafael speaks with all the specifics about the previewed tablet’s hardware that features an Option GTM67x chip for Wi-Fi, phone and GPRS connectivity.

Based his claim on all these three evidences, Long Zheng says that the Windows 8 tablets with supported hardware can make and receive calls. Perhaps, there is nothing wrong in agreeing with his statement.

It is important to make this thing clear here that this is just an added feature in forthcoming Windows 8 tablets and several others to follow. Stay calm and wait for some more explored features.
