Alibaba Aims to Introduce iPad Rival This Year

Jack Ma is often ranked as ‘The Steve Jobs of China’. Alibaba belongs to Jack Ma and we have come to know that Alibaba is going to announce its tablet device to compete popular iPad in Chinese market by the end of this year.

The CTO of Alibaba Wang Jiang stated that the device is scheduled to launch by the end of this year and will run on Aliyun, the Linux-based OS announced by Alibaba back in July. The OS is designed by Tianyu.

Both Tianyu and Aliyun are not new for Chinese users as they have already experienced the K-Touch W700 by Tianyu. It was the first device launched earlier this year and running on Aliyun OS. The K-Touch W700 is priced at $416. However, the company hasn’t revealed the price of its new tablet device yet.

Alibaba is a well-known name in the commercial sector all over the China. The company has not revealed much information about its new device, but one thing is sure that the device will be launched in close association with Alibaba’s online commerce, retail and payment platforms as well as cloud computing services.

The introduction of Linux-based operating system in their new device is quite unexpected when considering the fact that majority of the new smartphones and tablets are coming with top end operating systems like iOS or Android. The new tablet device from Alibaba is unofficially known as ‘YanPad’ and raised many questions in our minds. The most important of all is how the new tablet device will able to draw attention of the people who are already enticed by many low cost devices along with popular Apple’s iPad and  strongly emerging Android-powered tablets.

Another interesting fact is that China has become the second largest market for Apple products. The success of its Shanghai Store is an obvious example of the popularity of Apple products in the country. In recent few years, Apple has emerged as a significant tech giant that knows how to entice the consumers by offering high end products. Alibaba’s tablet needs to show its class in order to be a true iPad competitor in the Chinese market.
