Internet Users Spend 8 Hours per Month on Facebook [STATS]

Internet users spending about 2 hours on the Google’s website within a given month may still make it the world’s most visited website with users spending almost 2 hours in a certain month. But a new study reveals that the average Internet user in United States spends four times the amount of these hours on the Facebook.

According to the statistics provided by an online blog Nielsen, 176.2 million people visited Google’s website in the United States in the month of August. Clearly, the figures outclass Facebook with its 163.2 million, Yahoo with 149.0 million, Microsoft with 134.4 million and YouTube with 128.0 million users in August.

Despite the fact that Google had been able to manage 176.2 million users in August, Facebook has no competitor in drawing user attention. For instance, the average Internet user in United States spent an alarming 7 hours and 46 minutes on Facebook in the month of August which means that an average Internet user in United States spends about 15.5 minutes on the Facebook each day. If we compare these figures with those of Google’s, the average US Internet user spent 1 hour and 46 minutes on the Google in August.

It is important to note here that YouTube which supposed to be the biggest Internet time waster was actually not with 1 hour and 41 minutes. The biggest Internet time waster is AOL with 2 hours and 53 minutes followed by Yahoo with 2 hours and 12 minutes.

On average, the overall time spent by Internet users on different websites (i.e. 99 domains and over 3,123 web pages) in United States was 30 hours in the month of August. Another interesting fact is that about 216 Internet users in America spent time online out of an estimated 275 million people who have access to the Internet.

Facebook being the most popular social networking website is drawing more and more people towards it. A recent statistics shows that it has over 800 million active users, massive figures. If we compared the statistics of this year with last year’s, we will come to know that there is an increase of 3 hours from the last year’s 5 hours and 46 minutes on the social networks.
