New Games and Project Z Announced at Zynga’s Unleashed Event

On Tuesday, Zynga hosted its ‘Unleashed’ event at its brand new headquarters in Sand Francisco. This is the first mega event held at their new headquarters.

The event brings some major announcements from the company. The company announced 10 new products at the event including games, company’s dedication to HTML5 platform, Zynga Direct and above all Zynga’s Project Z.

The event started with Zynga’s announcement of its devotion to the Facebook’s HTML5 platform and its plans for leveraging the platform and its new effort ‘Zynga Direct’. There is no doubt that Facebook is the major source of revenue for Zynga. Also, Facebook is a key for Zynga’s development. The Zynga’s games have a great influence on Facebook’s social graph and Facebook Connect so as to keep the players involved. The recent announcement of Facebook Open Graph is another plus for Zynga as it will enable the company to utilize all new actions and buttons on its games to drive more and more players to its games.

Zynga CEO Mark Pincus expresses his thought as:

We are going to show off Zynga Direct, whether on the Web or mobile, we are going to build a whole sandbox around the games and not just in the games. Facebook is here today and we are excited to be their launch partner for their platform announced yesterday. We’ll be showing off three html5 games that will be part of that.

When we unveil the pieces of Zynga Direct, we hope that you see that it is the deepest Facebook Connect experience on the Web today…

For us, it’s a platform. We aren’t the company that will make the next hit game; we are trying to do something broader than that. We want this experience to make up a platform for play.

The major event of this event is the announcement of ‘Project Z’ or ‘Zynga Live’ – a Facebook Connect platform. The Project Z or Zynga Live from Zynga is pretty much similar to the Xbox Live as it enables you to play, chat, or share information to different communities all across the world. However, Zynga says that the Zynga Live will not available at the moment. Its launching date is not disclosed by the company.

At the event Zynga also announces a whole host of new games as well, along with add-ons and express versions of the social hits, such as CastleVille, Zynga Bingo and Dream Zoo.

The new games are company’s effort to bring some novelty together with introducing some new genres, like hidden objects, animals and mobile.

We have included a brief account of the Zynga’s new games:

  • Hidden Chronicles: The Hidden Chronicles falls under company’s ‘hidden objects’ genre. You need to look for hidden objects in still landscapes. Your friends can help you find objects for you as well. The game is simple and easy to play.
  • CastleVille: The CastleVille is a new entry in Zynga’s Ville lineup. It is designed to give a hint of medieval times. It is developed at company’s Dallas office and inherits many of the social game dynamics from FarmVille. In addition to this, the game also features a virtual marketplace and a soundtrack composed by a 74-piece orchestra and full choir.

  • Zynga Casino and Zynga Bingo: Zynga Casino is revealed by Zynga Poker’s GM Laurence Toney. He says that this game is designed to offer players a “Vegas-style casino with their friends.” Zynga Bingo is also launched to enjoy playing Bingo with your friends.
  • Dream Zoo: He who loves animals, this game is certainly for them. The player has to collect exotic animals, such as polka-dotted giraffes. This is basically a mobile game available in iOS App Store.
  • FarmVille Express: Zynga also announces the FarmVille Express, a mobile HTML5 game designed on Facebook platform. Although, it will not offer the functionality of desktop version, the players can have notifications and accept gift or other requests.
  • Mafia Wars Shakedown: Zynga also announces in the event that the company will soon release an iOS game for Mafia Wars 2 known as Mafia Wars Shakedown.
