Nokia Launches Flagship Lumia 800 Windows Phone

In today’s Nokia World conference event held in London, Nokia officially launched the company’s flagship Windows Phone device, the Lumia 800. Another rather affordable version of Windows Phone device is also introduced as Lumia 710.

Nokia in its description of Lumia devices said that both devices are ‘stylish and smart’ and comes with pre-loaded Nokia Maps and a host of co-branded accessories with Monster.

Nokia launches the device with a price tag of €420. Nokia has already started taking preorders at Nokia.com. On first stage, the Lumia 800 will launch in Germany, France, Italy, Netherlands, UK and Spain in November. However, Nokia also said that they are planning to introduce the device in Russia, India, Singapore, and Hong Kong by the end of this year. The rest of potential markets will get their share of Lumia 800 in 2012.

While announcing the device at the Nokia World event, the Nokia CEO Stephen Elop said, “There is a harmony to the device.” He also said that it is “the first real Windows Phone.” Kevin Shields of Nokia describes the device as “a beauty on the outside, beast on the inside.”

The Nokia Lumia 800 features a 3.7-inch AMOLED ClearBlack display, 1.4GHz processor, 16GB of internal memory, 512MB of RAM and an ‘instant-share camera experience based on leading Carl Zeiss optics and HD video playback.”

The device will launch with Nokia specific apps including: Nokia Drive, the company’s voice guided, turn-by-turn navigation system and an in-car user interface as well as Nokia Music featuring Ovi Music integrated into a new Nokia branded Windows Phone service that streams music through hundreds of channels.

The Lumia 800 is also deeply connected to Nokia SkyDrive offering 25GB of storage on the cloud storage system to each individual user. The device also has a support for Microsoft Word Suite and Internet Explorer browser.
