Adobe Refreshes Flash Player for Android

Adobe recently confirmed the reports that it is going to discontinue Flash Mobile Player after the launch of Flash Player 11. However, the company also revealed that it won’t be the complete end of Flash. Adobe has just launched the latest version of Flash Player for Android. The latest version 11.1 is launched with many security updates and bug fixes.

The new version offers with an assertion of bug fixes, such as several critical memory corruptions, stack overflow and buffer overflow vulnerabilities. This version is released for all users.

According to Adobe, the current Flash version is though the last major version, the company will continue to release security updates for Flash Mobile Player.

Adobe’s Senior Director of Product Security and Privacy, Brad Arkin on his Twitter account said, “Adobe will continue to ship security updates for Flash Player mobile after the final feature release.”

Although, the security updates may benefit many users and developers, but it is not yet clear for how long will Adobe continue to release security updates for Flash Mobile Player. We are trying to reach Adobe for comments and will come back as soon as we receive a response from Adobe.

For now, the latest Flash Player for Android is available in the Android Market for download. Adobe has also released a latest version of Flash Player for desktop users as well, which can be downloaded from Adobe’s official website.
