Apple’s Latest iOS 5.0.1 Failed to Fix Battery Woes

Apple released its latest mobile operating system version 5 last month. The new firmware was launched with a whole host of new features and improvements. However, the new firmware failed to leave any good impression on users’ mind because of battery woes. All those users who updated their devices to latest OS experience quicker battery drainage over the previous OS.

The complaints from customers became more frequent and forced Apple to take some immediate steps to address the problems. In response to these complaints, Apple probed down the issue and released a statement saying that it was a software issue. Later, Apple released an updated version of its mobile OS in the form of iOS 5.0.1 claiming that it will fix all the issues. However, the latest firmware failed to bring any satisfactory results for the customers as many customers still reporting that battery issues still persist even after updating to latest firmware.

A good number of customers turned to Apple Support Forums to express their anger on battery issues. These forums are receiving thousands of views over battery related topics. There are many customers who reported that the battery drainage was not that worst until they updated to latest firmware. Furthermore, there are some lucky customers who report a little bit of improvement.

Apple while talking to John Paczkowski of All Things D said that the latest firmware still has some problems regarding battery issues. Apple said:

“The recent iOS software update addressed many of the battery issues that some customers experienced on their iOS 5 devices. We continue to investigate a few remaining issues.”

While Apple is investigating the problem, in a meantime, you can opt for different ways to improve the battery life for now:

Delete Battery Guzzling Apps: You can improve battery life by turning off some apps. For instance, Find My Friends, a location-based application that shares your location with friends, you can turned it off when you are not using it.

Dim your Screen: You can save your battery life by dimming the brightness of your phone.

Reduce Push Notifications: Push Notifications also consume a lot of battery. Make clear that which are important for you and turn the rest off. For instance, if you are not interested in getting notification for each time you receive a post on Facebook, turn this feature off.

Apple may take its time to investigate the problem thoroughly and come up with a solid solution. Apple was a bit in hurry with the release of iOS 5.0.1 which unable to solve the problems. Now Apple has already started working on the issue and we can hope to have a new update soon.
