Echofon – Twitter Desktop App for Windows

You don’t want to launch browser and login to twitter account and want something handier like a Desktop application? There are quite a lot of twitter clients that can do the job but if you go ahead and try few, you will notice that most of them want you to install Adobe AIR first.

One such app is TweetDect which is Twitter official client for Windows but there are other try worthy applications like Seemic Desktop or MetroTwit.

However, if you are looking for something simpler that can give you access to all twitter features without occupying a lot of your desktop screen and system memory, you might want to give a try to Echofon.

Echofon, Twitter Desktop Application

It is a very handy application which is like running a mobile version of twitter website in a standalone Firefox browser. You can get access to all the twitter features like Twitter lists, saved searches, trending topics etc, and right from one window. In case a tweet contains a picture, Echofon will display a thumbnail in your timeline.

Another good thing is that it supports the keyboard shortcuts. You can use Ctrl+k to mark all tweets as read or maybe Ctrl+R to see if there are any new tweets in your timeline. However it lacks the short keys to switch from @mentions to main timeline.

That’s not it. You can integrate multiple twitter accounts with this application.
