Google+ YouTube and Chrome Integration

Google has been busy improving its social networking platform to make it strong enough to compete with its big competitor Facebook. Lots of new features and changes have been made to Google+ since its launch by Google. Now the search giant has introduced a deep integration of YouTube and Chrome with its Google+. The integration will bring two Chrome extensions and a YouTube ‘slider’ straight into Google+ stream.

The users will now able to mouse over a fresh YouTube icon located at the top of your Google+ window. On navigating over the slider, it will pop out and ask “What would you like to play?”

Next you need to enter the topic or name of the artist and a popup window will display playlist of videos to you. The good thing about this popup window is that you can move it around anywhere on the page while you can still mouse over the selected videos.

Although, a shared video will appear in the same way as it did before to your circles, they will now able to go through the related playlist right from the post. This means that they need not to open separate window to search for artists or videos.

Another thing that this integration will bring that YouTube playlist results will now display in Google+’s search queries.

Apart from deep YouTube integration, two new Chrome extensions ha also been added to improve Google+. The first one is the +1 button that appears to the right of the universal URL bar in Chrome that enables users to share any webpage to Google+ instantly.

The second Chrome extension pushes Notifications alert in the same place. This means that you can keep track of your Google+ notifications even when you are not on the network.

Vic Gundotra expresses this as “a taste of shipping the Google in Google+.” He believes that the only way to promote Google+ against intense competition is to integrate it with popular Google features.

However, it is important to note here that both the Chrome extensions are opt-in adds-on, which means that they will only be effective when installed. The reliability and usefulness of the extensions will presumably make them a pre-installed option in future versions of Chrome.

It is a matter of common observation that he who spends a good number of hours on Google products, the little orange box with the white numbers does have a heavy attraction.
