Nokia to Address Lumia 800 Battery Woes with Two Software Updates

Nokia has recently launched its new Windows Phone Lumia 800. The new handset from Nokia is very much similar to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus in appearance. It has shown relatively good sales for first few days after launch.

Despite having bumpy-sales, the Nokia Windows Phone handset is experiencing some battery life woes. Many of the customers had complaint a full-charge barely last for a day. Previously, company has instructed its Lumia 800 users some ways to boost the performance of battery on their handsets.

However, a multi-page thread appeared on the Nokia Support forums couple of days ago where users showed their serious concerns over the battery life issues regarding the new Windows Phone Lumia 800. It is quite against the standards of Nokia. The company released a statement saying that it is investigating the actual cause of the problem. Nokia feels that though the Lumia 800 has 1450mAh battery, it seems that it is not running up to its full potential. Nokia assures its users that it will soon release software updates to rectify the battery issues:

“A software update in early December will include improvements to power efficiency, while a second update in early January introduces further enhancements to battery life and battery charging. Both are planned updates and will be made available via Zune.”

It seems that the problem is not common in all Lumia devices as we didn’t experience any such issue on Lumia review devices. This may lead to the fact that the power issue is limited to number of users and is not at all universal. This has been confirmed by Nokia’s UK team saying that the statements made on company’s support forum regarding updates is a part of company’s pre-planned software updates. However, no details have been given about the root cause of the battery life woes.

However, one thing is clear that the future updates do have some power enhancement features, which is good news for those experiencing battery life issues. Both the updates will be made available to users through Microsoft’s Zune software.
