Firefox 9 Final Available for Download

Google’s Chrome is a new emerging force in the browser war. It is rapidly gaining popularity among the masses. Now Firefox has also joined the party with Chrome by quickly updating its desktop browser to version numbers with new features and improvements. Mozilla released its Firefox 8 to public hardly a month ago and it has already set to release its final build of version 9.

The Firefox version 9 is officially scheduled to release tomorrow. Mozilla is all set to renovate its website with proper download links and updated version numbers and all, aligning themselves with past traditions tomorrow. However, the final build of Firefox version 9 is already available on Mozilla’s FTP servers.

It is actually the final build of version 9, so don’t confused by the manual download. We have already downloaded the Firefox 9 for Windows. It is simply great.

One of the most prominent changes that you will notice in Firefox 9 is an improved JavaScript functionality. Mozilla has improved the JavaScript performance by 20 to 30% for Firefox 9. With such an improvement, you will notice how faster your JavaScript intensive websites will load compared to previous versions.

Mozilla has also scheduled Firefox 9 for Mac users. Interestingly, Firefox 9 is so designed that it will slowly and gradually adopt the features of OS X Lion. Furthermore, with Firefox 9, Mac users will be able to have the two-finger swipe gestures for navigating through pages just similar to the Safari.

Interestingly, the Firefox 9 doesn’t come with a bundle of changes. Still, the new version has some new features that are worth mentioning. We have set up a list of features that we have managed to explore in the latest version of Firefox. Have a look at them:

  • Added Type Inference, significantly improving JavaScript performance
  • Improved theme integration for Mac OS X Lion
  • Added two finger swipe navigation for Mac OS X Lion
  • Added support for querying Do Not Track status via JavaScript
  • Added support for font-stretch
  • Improved support for text-overflow
  • Improved standards support for HTML5, MathML, and CSS
  • Fixed several stability issues

Despite losing a good share of its market, Firefox is still preferred by many because of Add-ons. Users can download add-ons that help them improve the functionality of the web browser. In addition to this, add-ons will expand the user experience from just being navigating through different websites.

What we suggest you to is to download the latest version and try it yourself to find out what it actually brings for you. Firefox 9 is available for Windows, Mac and Linux users. Follow the links below to download one for your operating system.
