Although, Samsung’s regional offices had already confirmed which of its handsets and tablets would get Ice Cream Sandwich updates, the Korean electronics giant has proclaimed today verifying that its Galaxy line including Galaxy S II, Galaxy Note and Galaxy Tab models will entertain with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich updates.
In the first phase, Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note will be entertained with Android 4.0 updates in the Q1 2012, while Galaxy R and other Galaxy Tabs will receives updates afterwards.
The Korean giant has released a list of the devices eligible for an upgrade to Google’s latest mobile OS:
The ICS-upgradable devices are the Galaxy S II, Galaxy S II LTE, Galaxy Note, Galaxy R, Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy Tab 8.9, Galaxy Tab 7.7, and Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus.
While addressing to its major Android suppliers, Samsung said that it will make individual announcement for each of its other Android smartphones, but it will be made “according to market situation and carrier’s requirements.”
The update roster was initially confirmed by Samsung Italy back in October, according to which Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note won’t be the products that receive the update, but owners of Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy Tab 8.9, Galaxy Tab 7.7 and Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus will all receive the update.
We have already seen the leaked Alpha builds of Android 4.0 update for the Samsung Galaxy S II, though very buggy at the moment. It is advised not to update it on your device and wait for some time until Samsung officially releases updates in the start of 2012.
