Toshiba Introduces Thrive 7-inch Tablet for $379.99

It was back in September when Toshiba announced its Thrive 7-inch tablet. At the time of announcement, Toshiba promised two things to its customers – it would be available as early as December and it won’t cost more than $400.

Toshiba while keeping its words release Thrive 7-inch with a price tag of $379.99. The Thrive 7-inch tablet sports a brilliant HD Touch Screen – a 7-inch AutoBritemulti-touch LED backlit widescreen display with 1280 × 800 resolution. Its exclusive adaptive display technology automatically adjusts to the lighting environment.

The tablet also sports an NVIDIA GeForce® GPU as well as stereo speakers enhanced with premium audio technologies. The tablet runs Android 3.2 Honeycomb with a full suite of popular Google apps, including Gmail, Google Books, Google Maps, Google Music, Google Videos and more. The tablet is powered by a TEGRA 2 dual-core processor.

The tablet also features dual HD cameras – 5-megapixel camera at the back and 2-megapixel front camera. As of dimensions, the tablet is 0.5-inch thin with a weight of about 13.2 ounces. Furthermore, the tablet also features a Micro HDMI port, mini USB port and a slot for Micro SD card.

Toshiba described its new tablet as “A more complete tablet experience in the palm of your hand.” The brief description given on Toshiba’s official website read:

“Designed to deliver a more complete tablet experience, the Thrive™ 7” tablet delivers the web, games, books, movies, maps and more – all from a slim, lightweight device that’s easy to hold with just one hand. Simple to use and optimized for entertainment, this Wi-Fi tablet makes it easier than ever to stay connected and entertained while on-the-go.”

The tablet will be available in two versions – 16GB and 32 GB versions both of which are offered at $379.99 and $429.99 respectively.
