YouTube Gets its Biggest Redesign Ever

We have been surrounded by several reports about the major redesign of the world’s largest online video sharing community, YouTube. Even we have come up with a post guiding you to enable the new redesign, when it was not even available to many users. The latest news is that the YouTube biggest makeover is now available to everyone.

Although, the parent company Google is known for rolling out redesigns over a period of days, YouTube decided not to let its users wait for long and released it worldwide on Thursday at 4.30 p.m. ET.

The most obvious change that you will notice in the redesign is Channels. With this major makeover, YouTube sees itself a descendent of cable TV, with millions of new channels. The online video service is doing its best to draw more and more users to it.

On the to-left of the page, you will find a “add channels” button. Just under the button, there will be a list of your top ten favorite channels. You can ‘pin’ this to the top of the page as well.

The Director of User Experience at YouTube’s headquarters in San Bruno, California, Margaret Stewart said, “The future of the YouTube experience has channels at the center of it.” Further added, “It’s a container for all the world’s video, and it needs to be the best home for that.”

In addition to new Channels, YouTube has also changed the color scheme of its logo as well as added soft gray background to the videos. There are obvious indications showing that the service is becoming more integrated with parent company, Google, including the movement of employees between San Bruno and the Googleplex in Mountain View. Stewart confirms it as, “subtle alignments with Google’s visual style.”

Like many other Google products, the redesign also includes integration with nascent social networking platform Google+. YouTube has also simplifies the process of sharing videos on Facebook and Twitter. The change is not limited to web, YouTube apps on several platforms has also been upgraded. You can now access YouTube from your Xbox rather easily.

Initially, content creators can take advantage of four new channel templates – one template for networks (with major top featured content) and one for bloggers (with most recent content first). Senior execs and designers led too much emphasis on the fact that this is just the beginning; users can expect more channel-focused changes and channel templates in the coming days.

YouTube has uploaded a video on its channel with title: Get More into YouTube. We have embedded the video so as to give you better idea about the new channel redesign and other changes that are made in the service. Have a look:
