Apple Enjoys 350,000 Textbooks Download in First Three Days

All those, who criticized the Cupertino-based tech giant on its decision to enter into the world of digital textbooks, will be surprised to know the fact that Apple saw shocking 350,000 textbooks download in only three days

Apple was able to saw these huge numbers only after announcing the availability of digital textbooks through its online iBook Store on Thursday, with titles available from first day. The Cupertino-based company launched the new digital books in New York, where Phil Schiller held the proceedings with the CEO Tim Cook.

Apple iPad users can download textbooks from big name publishers straight from Apple, with content presenting sole interactive experiences that paper books just can’t compete with. Moreover, Apple offers the content with instant availability and ability to be constantly updated. This is a clear sign of Apple’s effort to show its potential of bringing innovative ways to educate the kids.

The most striking thing about the new textbooks is something worth noticing. This is not any of the feature but the price at which these titles are available for download, $15. All the major titles are set to offer at this price that leaves no reason for kids to not own the textbooks they require for their classes. Apple certainly deserves an appreciation for offering big titles at such an affordable price.

Price with all other combinations combined is a vital part that drawing such a large number of users towards its textbooks. We cannot also deny the novelty factor here that has its part to play as well. However, the question is whether we can see the same trend on long term basis.

AllThingsD and Global Equities Research are the major sources behind revealing the figures suggesting that Apple’s entry into the classroom setup will bring a change identical to how iTunes changed the music industry. Walter Isaacson, the biographer said that during an interview, Jobs hinted to such a task briefly. It seems now that Apple is on its way to give Jobs’ dream a life.
