Motorola recently announced its initial results for the fourth quarter of 2011, just prior to the forthcoming earnings report. The estimate sales announced by Motorola stood somewhere around $3.4 billion, while the company shipped almost 10.5 million mobile devices.
Around 5.3 million of these numbers were smartphones, while in the same quarter of last year company shipped 4.8 million devices. However, one should take into consideration that this is only initial estimates ahead of the complete earnings report. The complete earning report will likely be announced later this month on January 26, 2012.
It was back in August 2011 when the search giant Google acquired Motorola for $12.5 billion. But the deal was approved by stockholders by the mid of November 2011.
The company is hoping to see a boost in the sales in the first quarter of 2012 with an expected launch of the Droid 4 on Verizon, which is regarded as a QWERTY-enabled Droid RAZR.
