Rumor: Apple to Prepare $299 iPad with A6 Processor

Although, a good number of rumors and speculations surfaced about the iPad in recent time, the fact is that we need not to expect the next generation tablet device from Apple somewhere around the end of March this year. The Cupertino-based company launched its previous iPad at the same time a year ago.

Apple’s tablet device is currently into its second generation and appeared to be one of the most successful tablet devices from the Cupertino tech giant. It was back in April 2010, when Apple launched its first iPad tablet device. After the appearance of first-generation iPad tablet device, several different companies emerged so as to produce a device that could compete Apple’s iPad, but none of them has yet able to match the class of iPad. The second generation iPad, iPad 2 was launched in March 2011 with a host of revolutionary functions and technologies. What we can expect to have in third-generation iPad, iPad 3?

There are rumors surfaced earlier of the inclusion of a Retina display on the next-generation iPad tablet device. We have also heard reports claiming that two different variants are to be released this year – one with 7.85-inch and other standard 9.7-inch variant. Now the rumor surfaced suggesting that the Cupertino-based firm is aiming to introduce its next-generation iPad at shocking reduced price of $299. With this price tag, the device will fill the place for the mid-range segment.

The base of the rumor comes from the report posted by DigiTimes. It reports:

Sources from Apple’s supply chain have claimed that there will be two versions of the new iPad, one targeting the high-end segment and the other the mid-range. Digitimes Research believe the two new iPad models will both be equipped the A6 processor with high-end model coming with a high resolution panel (2048×1536) and the mid-tier model featuring the same grade of panel as iPad 2 (1024×768).

The possibility of budget-oriented version of iPad device is pretty much there, particularly after seeing the success and popularity of Amazon’s Kindle Fire. However, there is still a point to be noted here that the Cupertino firm has never been in the habit of following its competitors rather it always tries to bring a better product and user experience.

There is a common thought that Apple may likely to produce a new budget-version of iPad without discontinuing the current generation of the tablet device. There is another speculation that Apple may reduce the price of the current iPad with similar specs, if it can afford to do so and launch an entirely new version of iPad with superior functions.
