Facebook’s Display Ads Share Reaches 28%

comScore revealed data on Monday claiming that the social networking giant’s share of US display and impressions rose to 27.9% during last year. It is a significant growth as the display ads growth for Facebook recorded to be 21% by the Reston, VA-based researcher, in 2010.

According to comScore, Yahoo is on the second spot with 11% of the market, while Microsoft, AOL and Google followed by less than 5% each. Since 2009, the social networking giant, Facebook, is placed on the top in the display and impressions category by comScore.

Facebook, which is assumed to file for a public offering somewhere this week, has managed to grab over 800 million users all over the world; hence brands have gotten on board with verve. It is worth noting here that the Menlo Park, CA-based digital giant has effectively courted Madison Avenue during the last two years in general.

Andrew Lipsman, a representative of comSocre while talking to ClickZ News says, “Any time a site becomes so influential to the full digital landscape, advertisers are forced to pay attention. There was a time when brands thought of Facebook as a place for kids and teenagers. That’s obviously not the case anymore.”
